Center of Disease Control and Prevention/Developmental Disabilities
Description:
This Center of Disease Control and Prevention website focuses on Developmental Disabilities. Which is defined as a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas? About one in six children in the U.S. have one or more developmental disabilities or other developmental delays. This website is open to the public for individuals to gather as many resources as they can. This website also has all links to all social media for further guidance.
Remarks:
The Basics tab gives strong definitions on what type of symptoms parents should be looking for in their child when they are concerned about their child having a disability. They give specific resources for each type of disability that they believe is most common in children. The multimedia and tools page is resourceful in regards to milestones children are expected to achieve. The page shows videos and podcasts of children living with alcohol fetal alcohol spectrum, the causes, preventions, types, and signs and symptoms of cerebral palsy and first-hand experiences of mothers. Every research has its references to all the sources making all the information reliable and trustworthy.
Room for Improvement:
Because we speak so many languages in the United States I think this website should be available in different languages too. This is a very important page that consists of such great information we all be aware of. Another aspect they can improve on is updating information since the last update was a few years ago. The website should be kept up to date more often. The website has not been updated since September 8, 2015.
